A Quiet Codex

Created during my 28-day residency in Itoshima, A Quiet Codex unfolds as a lunar journal—pages tracing time, feeling, and form. Each entry marks a day, a moon phase, a meditation on resilience.
This body of work brings together leaf motifs drawn from the surrounding landscape, stone silhouettes collected during field walks across Fukuoka, and the shifting presence of the moon. The enquiry began with a quiet curiosity about Japanese mythology—particularly the reverence given to stones as objects of memory, endurance, and stillness. This early spark guided my attention toward the subtle power embedded in her environment.
The phases of the moon, observed daily and inspired by Shinto sensibilities, serve as a gentle spine for the work—threading together elements that are fragile, grounded, and in constant motion.
Continuing my exploration into the symbolic language of transformation, 'A Quiet Codex' invites viewers into a space where the personal, the natural, the mythic, and the emotional cohere—offering meditations on quiet power, soft endurance, and the beauty of cyclical becoming.

糸島での28日間の滞在中に制作された『静かなる手帖』は、月の満ち欠けを記録した日記のように、時間と感情、そしてかたちを辿るページが静かに展開していきます。一日ごとの記録には、その日の月相と、「レジリエンス（しなやかな強さ）」についての瞑想が記されています。
この作品群は、周囲の景色から取り入れた葉のモチーフや、福岡を歩きながら見つけた石のシルエット、そして日々移ろう月の姿を融合させています。制作の始まりは、日本の神話に対する静かな好奇心でした。特に、記憶や耐久性、静けさの象徴として石が敬われていることに惹かれた彼女は、環境にひそむ微かな力に意識を向けていきました。
毎日観察された月の満ち欠けは、神道的な感覚に触発され、作品の穏やかな骨格として機能しています。壊れやすくも確かな土台を持ち、絶えず変化し続ける要素をゆるやかにつなぎ合わせています。
象徴的な変容の言語を探求し続ける『静かなる手帖』は、私的なもの、自然、神話的なもの、感情的なものが調和する空間へと鑑賞者を誘います。静かな力、穏やかな耐久性、そして周期的な変化の美しさについて瞑想を促す作品です。
